ESSKA 2000 biannual meetings attract the best of the orthopaedic sports doctors in Europe. This time we will in addition bring you some of the best surgeons and sports doctors from around the world!
During this week we will offer you an anatomy course with cadaver dissections for your residents run by Karl-Peter Benedetto on Tuesday, May 23rd. The two new additions to the programme will follow on Thursday - an almost full day programme on rehabilitation issues in sports, and on Friday when the OR nurses will give us their contribution.
The programme has an emphasis on Evidenced Based Medicine and on ESSKA 2000 in 10 years from now and you will hear many lectures on the future.
Our main guests, Matsuo Ochi from Japan, Steven Arnoczky and Bob Marx from the US and Andrew Amis from England will keep us updated on basic science and on clinical research methods. We will have 15 well balanced instructional courses - 5 each day. We will have symposia on minimal invasive surgery in TKA and on the combination of computer assisted surgery and MIS. We will discuss the difficult total knee, the complications and something new: sports after TKA. We will discuss all the new aspects and issues in the knee, shoulder, elbow, hip and ankle and we will have 220 free papers and more than 400 posters – in short: you need to be there to stay updated in this field.
Innsbruck in late springtime is surrounded by mountains with high peaks covered with the remains of winter snow while down town is green and the temperature between 20 and 25 degrees. The city offers a marvellous historical part with lots of shops and traditional restaurants. Daily excursions are available to the glaciers, to the traditional glass manufacturers and to old castles of Ludwig II. Salzburg, Munich and Verona are approximately 2 hours away. Flying in to Innsbruck is possible from a number of major airports in Europe.
We look forward to seeing you in Innsbruck.
