Events

Poster Happy Hour Welcome Reception

The evening of the first official congress day is dedicated to meeting your colleagues and friends from all around the world attending the ESSKA Congress 2012! Following the last session we will all gather in Hall 1 at 18:00 for a walk through the large poster exhibition area, enjoying a glass of beer and some snacks and discussing with poster presenters.

Join the official welcome to Geneva from 18:30, with typical wine and music!

The city tour of Geneva will bring you to visit the international part of Geneva through the centre of the world’s peacemaking organizations followed by a tour of the main tourist attractions of the city like the Fountain and the wonderful Flower Clock. Then get a taste of Geneva’s history with the mini-train tramway tour and dig even deeper into the old town with your guide on a walking tour.

The deadline for submission was October 10, 2011. Notification about the results of the abstract review process will be sent out to the e-mail address of the submitter by the end of January 2012.

Geneva city tour & boat cruise

The city tour of Geneva will bring you to visit the international part of Geneva through the centre of the world’s peacemaking organizations followed by a tour of the main tourist attractions of the city like the Fountain and the wonderful Flower clock. Then get a taste of Geneva’s history with the mini-train tramway tour and dig even deeper into the old town with your guide on a walking tour.

To complete this city tour, continue on the lake with a one hour commented boat cruise which will make you discover the major attractions of the lake of Geneva: the Water Fountain, the UN building, the castle of Bellerive, the Mermaid, and many more interesting sites.

For your pleasure, some drinks will be offered to you during the cruise.

Excursion to Lausanne – Montreux – Chillon

Lausanne, picturesque town built on hills and cultural center of Switzerland. After orientation city tour, free time at the lake side or visit to the Olympic Museum. In the afternoon, through the Vaud countryside on the lake side, passing by the famous towns of Vevey and Montreux, we will arrive at the Chateau de Chillon, one of the finest monuments of our country where a guided tour will take place. Then, boarding a steamer that will surprise you leave the splendor of the landscape and eventually take you wander the streets of Montreux.

Excursion Chamonix – Mont Blanc

You will be crossing the Franco-Swiss border. The passport and maybe visa is needed. You can buy these options on the spot: Cable Car Aiguille du Midi (3842m): CHF 73.- per participant, Mer de Glace : CHF 42 per participant, Lunch : CHF 42 per participant.
A 90 minutes’ drive by bus through the picturesque Arve Valley takes us from Geneva to Chamonix, one of the most famous mountain village at the foot of the majestic Mont Blanc, the highest peak of Europe (4807m / 15.771 ft).

Excursion Gruyères – Golden Pass

There is no better temptation than chocolate smell! Travel through chocolate tradition with tasting the most famous of Swiss delicacies. Admire the breathtaking landscapes of Gruyères.
